Cape Rep Theatre will hold auditions for FUNNY GIRL (music by Bob Merrill and Jule Styne, book by Isobel Lennart, Jule Styne and Bob Merrill) on
Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 10-2 pm at Cape Rep Indoor Theater, 3299 Rt. 6A, Brewster, MA 02631. Auditions will be on a first-come/first-served basis. Please prepare one ballad and one up-tempo piece; you may be asked to read from the script. Headshots and resumes are appreciated. Come dressed to move. AVAILABLE ROLES:
MRS. BRICE 50s-60s; mezzo; Jewish mother, great Brooklyn accent; funny, runs bar.
MRS. STRAKOSH 50s-60s; mezzo; brash, opinionated busy-body; funny poker-playing friend of Mrs. Brice.
EDDIE RYAN Late 20s/30s; baritone; great tap dancer; classic song and dance man; nice guy in love with Fanny.
FLORENZ ZIEGFELD 40s-60s; tenor; famous Broadway producer and creator of the Follies.
ENSEMBLE to play all of the other roles including Mrs. Meeker and Mrs. O’Malley,
Mrs. Brice’s poker pals; John, the Stage Manager; Emma, Fanny’s dresser; show
girls/Ziegfeld girls, etc. This ensemble will be very busy and have a great variety of
roles to play. This is a singing/dancing/acting ensemble.
The roles of Fanny Brice and Nicky Arnstein have been cast. Rehearsals start on or about October 6 and the show runs November 6 through December 7, 2014.
Cape Rep Associate Artistic Director, Maura Hanlon, directs and with musical direction by Resident Musical Director, Scott Storr.
