The Arvada Center announces auditions for “ELF – The Musical”
Chorus Dance Call will be held August 4, Colorado Auditions are August 6 and 7
The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for ELF – The Musical on August 6 and 7, 2018 (Chorus dance call is August 4), and in New York City, on September 13, 2018. Denver Callbacks are scheduled for August 8, 2018. The Arvada Center production will be directed by Gavin Mayer and choreographed by Kitty Skillman Hilsabeck. The Arvada Center Producing Director of Musical Theatre is Rod A. Lansberry. The Arvada Center is located at 6901 Wadsworth Blvd. in Arvada, Colorado.
Adult Principal and Chorus:
The Women’s Chorus dance call is 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. and Men’s Chorus dance call is 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. on August 4th. All dance calls are by appointment only and dancers may be asked to sing. Colorado Principal/Chorus auditions are on August 6 and 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., by appointment only. Auditions for the role of Michael, (young actor to play 10- 12 years old), will be held from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. on August 6.
General Audition Requirements:
Experienced performers with strong acting and singing abilities are needed. Strong dancingabilities are required. See the character breakdown (below) for specifics on available roles. Actors should prepare 16-32 bars from a song appropriate to the style of the show. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Recorded music or a cappella audition will eliminate casting consideration. Audio and video submissions will not be considered. A current headshot and résumé are required. Equity members must have a current equity ID card. This is an Equity LORT B production, non-equity actors will be considered. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are needed and encouraged to audition for all roles.Unless specifically noted, roles are not limited to any specific ethnicity, size or age. Rehearsal and Performance Dates:
Rehearsals for ELF – The Musical begin on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. The production opens Tuesday, November 20 and runs through December 23, 2018. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.

Buddy
Born a human but raised at the North Pole as a Christmas Elf, Buddy is eager to find his place in the world. He is a child at heart, and that child-like curiosity makes him both endearing and gets him into trouble.

Buddy's girlfriend. She works at Macy's and has a bit of a cynical outlook on life and love because of the men she's dated. She is caught off guard by Buddy's genuinely big heart.

Buddy's workaholic father. He is a children's book writer but lacks any of the childlike spirit that Buddy has. He is selfish, tense, and generally angry with life.
