Auditioners will be paired up to read scenes from the play. Auditioners will be given time to review scenes before reading. Theatrical resumes and headshots are encouraged, but not required.

Play Synopsis:
DISGRACED is the story of Amir Kapoor, a successful Pakistani-American lawyer who is rapidly moving up the corporate ladder while rejecting his cultural roots. When Amir and his wife Emily, a white artist influenced by Islamic imagery, host a dinner party, what starts out as a friendly conversation with business acquaintances escalates into something far more damaging.

Rehearsal Dates:
Rehearsals will begin in late February and will be held 3-4 times per week on Mon.-Thurs. evenings from 7-9 p.m.
Character Descriptions:
AMIR - Male, 30s/40s, Pakistani-American lawyer born in the US who has renounced his Islamic identity and changed his surname to Kapoor to obscure that his family is Muslim
EMILY - Female, late 20s/30s/40s, Amir’s wife. Caucasian artist whose paintings incorporate Islamic imagery but who rejects claims that her work is orientalist
JORY - Female, late 20s/30s/40s, Amir’s colleague. African-American lawyer who is heading for a promotion at her firm and is married to Isaac
ISAAC - Male, late 30s/40s, Jory’s husband. Jewish-American art curator who has expressed interest in Emily’s art and career
ABE - Male, 20’s, Amir’s nephew. Pakistani-born immigrant of vulnerable immigration status who approaches his uncle to help a Muslim friend who has been unjustly targeted by authorities
COVID Precautions:
FOR AUDITIONS: Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from within 72 hours of audition must be presented at check-in with ID.

CASTING REQUIREMENT: All actors will be required to provide proof of vaccination to participate in a production. Due to the intimate nature of our shows and venue, we are not able to accept any exceptions at this time.
