Dominion Entertainment Group is seeking singer/actors for their upcoming musical Crowns , running May 29th - June 10th at the Southwest Arts Center Theater in Atlanta, GA.

Crowns, a moving and celebratory musical in which hats become a springboard for an exploration of black history and identity as seen through the eyes of a young black woman who has come down South to stay with her aunt after her brother is killed in Brooklyn.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Yolanda — (late teens/early 20's) Sing/Rap
Yolanda is an edgy young woman from Brooklyn.
Mother Elsie Shaw — (50's/60's) Alto
Mother Shaw is Yolanda’s grandmother and a very
well-respected religious woman. Matriarch
Preacher/Man (40's/60's) Baritone/Tenor
The Preacher/Man portrays many characters, from
Reverend to brother to husband.
Jeanette — (30's-40's) Alto
Jeanette is a great admirer of Mother Shaw.
Nonetheless, she wouldn’t even think about
loaning a hat to Mother Shaw—or to anyone else.
Velma – (30's) Soprano
Velma grew up on a tobacco farm and later worked
for a funeral home.
Mabel – (30's/40's) Mezzo
Mabel grew up on a farm and afterward became a
preacher’s wife.
Wanda – (40/s-50s) Alto
Wanda, like the other women in the play, is a “hat
queen.” She developed her love for hats from her
Grandma Em.
