TO TAKE PLACE IN IRVINGTON NY
Theatre Now New York holding local and NYC auditions for
CARRIE, the Musical
premiering this fall at Irvington Town Hall Theater
Theatre Now New York, a professional theatre company will present CARRIE, The Musical this fall in Irvington, NY and will hold local auditions on Saturday, August 29th at the Irvington Town Hall Theater, 85 Main Street, Irvington, NY. Auditions are by appointment only and those wishing to audition should email matt@tnny.org or call 212-845-9824 ext. 801 for an appointment slot. Auditioners should bring a picture of themselves, a song to sing with the sheet music in their key, and they may be asked to dance. An accompanist will be provided. For more information and a full cast breakdown visit www.tnny.org under the menu item GET INVOLVED/Casting & Auditions and select CARRIE Auditions. Auditions are open to all high school students and adults.
This will be Theatre Now’s first full scale production in Westchester County where they hope to make a permanent home producing top-notch plays and musicals throughout the year. In addition to local area auditions, auditions will also be held in NYC in late August. The cast will be a combination of professional actors as well as non-professionals some of whom are college-age interns and others who are local area community members.
“It’s a great opportunity to have a professional theatre company where members from the community can work side by side with seasoned veterans” says Artistic Director, Thomas Morrissey. He added “It is very important for us to also be a part of the community in this way.” Other volunteer opportunities also exist within the company from helping out back stage to ushering. There are even plans to do a few community ‘pot luck’ dinners for the cast with the help and support of local area residents. If you'd like to be involved in any of the many offstage opportunities, please email emily@tnny.org or call 212-845-9824 ext. 803 for more information about volunteering.
The show centers around misfit Carrie White and is based on the Stephen King novel. At school, Carrie is an outcast who's bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else. At home, she's at the mercy of her loving but cruelly over-protective mother. But Carrie's just discovered she's got a special power, and if pushed too far, she's not afraid to use it.
CARRIE, The Musical will be performed October 30th through November 7th at the Irvington Town Hall Theater in Irvington, NY. For show and ticket information, visit www.tnny.org or call our box office toll free at 855-254-7469.
