AUDITION NOTICE – Brigadoon and She Loves Me

The Candlelight Theatre will present Brigadoon September 15 – October 28, 2018 and She Loves Me November 17 – December 23, 2018.

Brigadoon - book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe.
Director: Bob Kelly, Musical Director: Betsy Conner, Choreographer: Jodi Anderson

She Loves Me – book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and music by Jerry Bock. Based on the play, The Parfumerie, by Miklós László.
Director: Renee Dobson, Musical Director: Doug Lutz

Brigadoon Character Breakdown
Fiona MacLaren - Bright, graceful, with a gentle sense of humor. Honest and frank to the point of being disarming. Needs to move well, Very strong singer. Soprano. 18- early 30's

Tommy Albright - Disenchanted New Yorker seeking something more in his life. Fully buys in to Brigadoon. Falls in love with Fiona. Should move well. Very strong singer. Bari/tenor. 20's - 30's

Charlie Dalrymple - Resident of Brigadoon. Betrothed to Jean MacLaren. Should move well. Very strong singer. Tenor (to G)

Jean MacLaren - Resident of Brigadoon. Betrothed to Charlie. Very strong dancer. Late teens – early 20's.

Meg Brockie - Resident of Brigadoon. Strong comic supporting role. Should move well. Full of life. Strong alto/belt role (G3 – F5). 20's - 30's.

Jeff Douglas - Should move well. Comic role. Skeptical of the world. Loves women and drink. Does not understand Tommy's attraction to Brigadoon. 20's - 30's

Harry Beaton - In love with Jean MacLaren and learning about things beyond Brigadoon and knows he can never have either. Tragic role. Strong dancer. 20's

Andrew MacLaren - Father of Fiona and Jean. A hearty soul. A bit pompous and gruff. 50's -60's.

Archie Beaton - Harry's father. A kind man and concerned about his son. 50's - 60's.

Mr. Lundie - A quaint Scottish schoolmaster. Warm-hearted and emotional. The keeper of "The Miracle" A storyteller. 50's - 70's.

Maggie Anderson - Has an unrequited love for Harry. Very strong dancer. Ballet. Performs the funeral dance. Late teens - 20's.

Jane Ashton - Engaged to Tommy. New York edge. 20's-30's.

Male/Female ensemble to play residents of Brigadoon. Should move well. Strong vocal show. Scottish accent necessary.

Bagpiper(s) - To be featured in the show with a solo of the Funeral dance.

Ensemble- Women & Men: strong actors/singers/dancers of all types. Highland dance experience a plus. Scottish accent requested.


She Loves Me - Character Breakdown

Arpad Laszlo -Delivery boy at Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Exuberant, ambitious, adorable. Age Range: 15-18. Vocal Range: Tenor

Ladislav Sipos -Not the brightest employee at Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Confidant to Georg. Optimistic. family man. Age Range: 35-45. Vocal Range: Baritone

Ilona Ritter - Employed at Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Sexy, fun, upbeat. Age Range: 25-35. Vocal Range: Mezzo Belt

Steven Kodaly -Well respected employee at Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Dapper, charming, womanizer. Age Range: 20-30. Vocal Range: Baritenor

Georg Nowack- Established employee of Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Sweet, shy, hopeless romantic. Age Range: 20-30. Vocal Range: Baritenor

Mr. Maraczek -Owner of Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Commanding presence, father-figure to Georg. Age Range: 45+ Vocal Range: Baritone

Amalia Balash - Newest employee of Maraczek’s Parfumerie. Attractive, bright, energetic.

Age Range: 20-30. Vocal Range: Soprano (to high C) If you are singing for Amalia, please be prepared to sing the final 32 bars of Vanilla Ice Cream.
Ensemble Roles - Women & Men: strong singer/actors of all types.
