CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
MAUDIE MARTINETTE: A feisty 72-year-old African-American woman, born and raised in Pinewood, Texas. Emmy's best
friend.
EMMY MONTALBANO: A 77-year-old, soft-spoken white woman, originally from Georgia. Maudie's best friend.
OLIVIA WILSON: Emmy's roommate at Sunset Place, a cantankerous 79-year-old white woman, originally from Louisiana. Nobody’s friend.
One African-American male actor performs the following six roles: Mr. Phenix, an old man in a retirement home; train conductor; Creole cab driver; voice of Dr. Wilson; Raymond Cormier, a lawyer; and Alcee Turner, a retired brick layer.
Two actresses perform the following eight roles: Charlotte, an old woman; a receptionist; a prostitute; a mugger; a police officer; a waitress; a detective; and Emmy's daughter Elizabeth.
The first seven can be any ethnicity. But Elizabeth, Emmy's daughter is Caucasian.
