ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND A CALLBACK ON OCTOBER 12TH AT 9AM

Breakdown and What to Prepare/Bring:

Billy Elliot: Billy stumbles upon a ballet class and develops a passion for dance; to him, dance is a way to feel whole and escape from the problems of life. He finds himself stuck between appeasing family and chasing his newfound love.

Seeking boys ages 10-14. Must be an excellent ballet dancer, with training in tap and hip hop (acro skills a plus). Must be a strong actor, with excellent listening skills. This is an incredibly demanding role that will require tremendous discipline and focus. Voice must be unchanged (E3-C5); there is flying involved, but training will be provided.

Boys should bring a headshot and resume and be warmed up and ready to dance. They will begin with a ballet barre and will learn a floor combination. They may be asked to stay and tap and tumble. Following the dancing, they may be asked to sing. Please prepare a 32 bar vocal cut (bring sheet music in their key). Auditions will last from 9-12, but a guardian should be present during the entire process, should children be released early.

Children must be available for callbacks on Sunday, 10/12 beginning at 9am. Please do not attend the audition if you cannot attend callbacks. Children will likely perform 4 shows per week, including one weekday matinee. Rehearsals will be held from 4-8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10-6 on weekends. It will be necessary for boys to rehearse during some school hours. Boys will be required to attend tech rehearsal during school hours.

Michael: Billy's free-spirited friend. Michael is very comfortable in his own skin and often enjoys dressing in women's clothing.

Seeking boys ages 10-14. Must have an unchanged voice (A#3-B4). Must be an excellent dancer with strong tap skills. Must be strong (but natural) comic actor/great listener with excellent focus. All boys should bring tap shoes. They will learn a tap combination and then may be asked to stay and sing. They should bring a headshot, resume and 32 bar vocal selection in their key. They may be photographed for height. Auditions will be held from 12:30-2:30, but a guardian should be present during the entire audition, should children be released early.
