SHOW INFORMATION & CAST BREAKDOWN

This small-version of the Broadway musical features music and lyrics by Tony nominee Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family, The Wild Party) and a book by esteemed screenwriter John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fish centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to the fullest…and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son, Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.

Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, Big Fish is an extraordinary musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.

THE CAST:

Edward Bloom – THIS ROLE HAS ALREADY BEEN CAST

Will Bloom (tenor with a sustained G) – Edward’s son. Will is a critical part to the story. He is an earnest, serious, thoughtful young man wanting to reconnect with his storytelling father, but unable to appreciate Edward’s romantic view of life. He is a successful professional and a new husband.

Sandra Bloom (Mezzo/Soprano – strong mix to Eb/F) – Edward’s wife, and the love of his life. She is patient and calm, the perfect balance to Edward’s enthusiasm. She adores and appreciates Edward and tries to bring reconciliation to her husband and son, both of whom she loves.

Young Will – This young version of Will is intrigued by his father’s stories, but already starts to doubt their truth. With his father always on the road, he feels he is the man of the house.

Josephine Bloom (Mezzo-Soprano) – Will’s lovely and funny wife. She is pregnant through most of the story. She’s charmed by Edward, and happily inserts herself into his stories. She is successful, sweet, intelligent and organically compatible with Will. Josephine acts as the bridge between Will and Edward, explaining the deeper meaning of the stories.

Karl the Giant (Bass – solid low E) – Edward’s best friend. Karl is a shy, exceptionally intelligent, sad-sack loner, and has a quiet charisma. Booming voice and larger personality.

Amos Calloway / Dr. Bennett (Baritone) – Rather eccentric, quirky owner of the circus that employs young Edward. P.T. Barnum with a secret. Strong comedic chops needed.

Don Price (Baritone) – Edward’s life-long nemesis. Don is Sandra’s first fiancé and a hot-headed bully.

The Witch (Mezzo-Soprano – big belt) – Commanding female with great storytelling ability. Proprietress of a backwoods gin joint, also sells fortunes.

Jenny Hill (Mezzo-Soprano) – Edward’s first girlfriend in high school, a cheerleader. She is trusting and beautiful, but not terribly bright.

Girl in the Water- Featured ensemble role

Zacky Price / Mayor (Tenor) – Don’s younger brother. Somewhat nerdy and easily spooked.
