BABES IN TOYLAND, Victor Herbert's classic operetta (featuring "March of the Toys," and "Toyland") receives an update with book and lyrics by Craig Shemin. Presented by The Little Orchestra Society as part of its Happy Concerts for Young People series for children ages 6 to 12, the piece will be performed at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, with a full orchestra. James Judd, Guest Conductor. John Henry Davis, Director. Peggy Hickey, Choreographer.

Seeking—

Alan: 18+, young triple threat, actor- singer- dancer, to play the charming and sympathetic apprentice in the toy store, a tenor with excellent falsetto, strong comic ability, LEAD;

Jenny: 18+ to play young teen, soprano, spoiled, witty, initially self-centered but later becomes more vulnerable, strong comedic ability, LEAD;

The Wrenchman: 6’+ male dancer in his 20’s or 30’s with strong classical training & theater dance skills to portray a tall, ruthless robot-like modern toy, FEATURED ROLE Little

Bo-Peep: powerful lyric soprano, age 20 - 35, to play naive, eccentric drama queen prone to tears. Great comic ability. FEATURED VOCAL SOLOIST

Chorus: male and female singers who move well to portray various iconic toys, need all vocal ranges, must possess a sense of humor and dramatic flair.

Also seeking some excellent male and female dancers who sing well with strong dance technique (acro, pointe, and unique dance skills preferred).

Rehearsals in Manhattan from November 25-Dec 7. Performances on December 8 at Avery Fisher Hall. Performers will receive an honorarium for the project. This is a one-day concert performance and not affiliated with AEA. The Little Orchestra Society/Orpheon, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is committed to multi-cultural casting.

Auditions will be held by appointment only on Thursday, October 4 and Friday October 5, 2012. You will be asked to sing 16 bars, opera, operetta or traditional musical theatre repertory preferred. You may also be asked to read. Please be prepared for a same-day dance call. Final callbacks will be held on Columbus Day, Monday, October 8.
