BROADWAY SHOW CHOIR!
Exhibition Show Choir for students ages 16 to 22

Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) is proud to announce open auditions for the highly-acclaimed Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is a tuition-free, audition based, performance show choir that stems from Paper Mill Playhouse’s award-winning Arts Education and Outreach programs. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir acts as ambassadors to Paper Mill Playhouse with an array of performance opportunities throughout the community and beyond. In 2013, the choir performed for more than 15,000 people across the state including appearances at the New Jersey State House, Best of Morris-Essex Festival, Patriot’s Theater in Trenton, NJ Pride in Asbury Park, numerous street fairs and the main stage at Paper Mill Playhouse. The choir consists of 30 to 40 singer/dancers between the ages of 16 and 22. Auditions for this special ensemble will take place at Paper Mill Playhouse, 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, NJ on Sunday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 29 by appointment only, beginning at 6:00pm. Students selected to be a part of this talented group will have to opportunity to fine tune their craft with FREE, intensive instruction at the revered Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir season will begin in late September 2013 and run through June 2014. Rehearsals will take place on Sunday evenings from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is led by a professional staff of artists including; Shayne Austin Miller (Director), Meg Zervoulis (Music Director), Jennifer Forziati-Dacosta (Choreographer), Viraj Lal (Vocal Coach), Lisa Cooney (Paper Mill Playhouse Director of Education), Mickey McNany (Paper Mill Playhouse Theatre School Director) and Carrie Rubino (Associate Director of Educational Programs). “The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is a perfect addition to Paper Mill’s award-winning arts education programs,” stated Mark S. Hoebee the Millburn Theater’s Producing Artistic Director. “This talented touring troupe allows Paper Mill Playhouse to bring art to the people, while its participants receive professional instruction in song and dance.”
“Over the last five months, the Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir has played some major performances reaching more than 15,000 people,” remarked Shayne Miller, Director of the Paper Mill Show Choir. “This program is an amazing opportunity for free intensive training at one of the nation’s leading regional theaters while having the opportunity to perform in an ensemble at fantastic venues.”

PREPARE TO AUDITION: Prepare a pop/rock song or upbeat musical theater piece of approximately 32 bars (no more than one verse and chorus) that best demonstrates your vocal range. Bring sheet music, in your key, in a binder or single sheets taped together that contain full piano accompaniment, not just chord symbols. An accompanist will be provided. Students may not perform a cappella or to an audio recording.
Everyone will be asked to dance. Students will be taught a dance combination which will then be performed in small groups. Evaluation will be based on skill, potential and the ability to learn the routine. Please wear or bring suitable footwear for your dance audition.
