“Leapin’ Lizards!” Project DayDream is pleased to announce auditions for our third summer musical—ANNIE, one of the best-loved family musicals of all time. Auditions for students and young adults ages 6-24 will be held June 30, 2014 inside The Congregational Church of Birmingham.
“We know how important it is for children and young adults to receive exposure to the arts. That is why we are producing three very different musicals this summer (Rent, Seussical JR., and now Annie)” said Tiffany Victoria Sims, Project DayDream’s owner and artistic director. “Annie is the perfect show to bring families together and remind us all that the sun will come out tomorrow!”
Based on the classic comic strip "Little Orphan Annie," this heartwarming musical is the story of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
In addition to these well-known iconic roles there are also a large number of small speaking roles for the ensemble including the servants in the Warbucks mansion, members of the Presidential Cabinet, and several featured singing roles.
A large cast of all ages is needed and those with little experience are welcomed and encouraged to audition. At auditions we are looking for children and adults who have a lot of energy and focus!
