Synopsis:
It’s 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t Be Cruel.”

Audition Dates: Thursday, April 4th 6:30-10pm
Friday, April 5th 6:30-10pm
Callbacks: Saturday, April 6th 11-3pm. (by invite only, callback notices will be sent out Friday night to those who are called back. Please watch your email.) If you did not receive a callback, it does NOT mean you are not in the show!

MATERIAL TO PREPARE
In addition to a Headshot/Resume, audition form, signed code of conduct, please prepare to sing 32 bars or one minute of a song that shows off your voice and is not from the show, but can be in the style of the show.. Also, please come with a 30 second story or joke. Whatever you find funny!
Bring sheet music of the song you've prepared. An accompanist will be provided. No acapella or recorded music. Dress comfortably for a dance audition. (Those only auditioning for Earl and do not want to be considered for any other role do not need to dance)
TIME COMMITMENT
First Rehearsal: Monday, April 15th
Typical Rehearsal Schedule: Sunday, 2-5pm, Monday-Thursday, 7-10pm
No Rehearsal on Monday, May 12th, 26th, and 27th
Sitzprobe: TBD
Tech week begins Sunday, June 16th (cast attendance to each technical rehearsal is required)
Rehearsals will take place at Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, Naperville Central High School, and Fort Hill Activity Center, all in Naperville.
Performances: Naperville Central High School Auditorium (440 West Aurora Ave Naperville, IL 60540) Friday, June 21st-Sunday, June 30th
Performance times: 8 performances - Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm, Sundays at 2:00pm (call times are an hour and a half before curtain)
Pickup Rehearsals: Thursday, June 27th
Mandatory strike after Sunday, June 30th performance
CASTING BREAKDOWN
All ages listed are stage ages. All genders are as presented in the script. Summer Place is committed to diversity and inclusion in our casting practices. Characters’ pronouns are listed for reference. We invite actors of all genders to audition for any roles they identify with. NATALIE HALLER (Early 20's): a mechanic.
CHAD: a great-lookin', motorcycling, guitar-playing, leather-jacketed roustabout.
JIM HALLER (mid 40's-50's): Natalie's widowed father.
SYLVIA (mid 40's): the no-nonsense, African-American owner of SYLVIA'S HONKY-TONK.
LORRAINE: Sylvia's 16 year-old daughter.
DENNIS: a young, awkward, aspiring dentist.
MISS SANDRA: the beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town's museum.
MAYOR MATILDA HYDE (mid 40's-50's): the town's conservative mayor.
DEAN HYDE: Matilda's 16 year-old son. He has grown up at a military boarding school.
SHERIFF EARL (mid 40's-50's): the law in town. A man of not many words.
