About the Show:
Meet Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham – aka the ALTAR BOYZ. They’re on a mission from above to put the “pop” back in piety, wooing legions of bingo hall and pancake breakfast fans throughout their “Raise the Praise” tour. Next stop? Pittsburgh! Full of sharp parody, sinfully spectacular dancing, and irreverent humor, this spoof about a heavenly boy band is adored by audiences and critics alike. With an extraordinary mix of side-splitting songs convincing enough to be played on MTV, uncontrollable laughs and lighthearted fun, it’s 90 minutes of pure delight that will have the whole family laughing and singing along. Featuring instant classics such as: Girl You Make Me Wanna Wait and Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone, ALTAR BOYZ is destined to rock the masses of all denominations!

Seeking:
All roles must have very strong singing ability (including tight harmony singing), strong hip-hop and pop dance ability and very strong comedic instincts. These characters are sincere and earnest.

Matthew: The leader of the group with looks and charisma to spare, a voice that could sell millions of albums and an ease with the audience that makes the girls and boys swoon. A pop tenor. Preferably able to beatbox.

Mark: The innocent bowl of sunshine. He has always looked up to Matthew and is really, really glad that they are friends. Strong comedic instincts necessary. Pop tenor.

Luke: The bad boy. Street-wise, but rather dim in every other area. He gives everything he does 110% - even when he only has 60% of the know-how. He speaks in hip-hop lingo from about 6 years ago. Strong comedic instincts necessary. Rock high baritone.

Juan: Juan was dropped on the steps of a church in Tijuana and raised by nuns who raised him as a Hispanic. In reality, he may or may not be although he does speak with a Spanish accent. Strong comedic instincts necessary.

Abe: The Jewish Altar Boy. Abe loves singing and dancing and, while he is perplexed and curious as to why God told him to join a Christian Boyband, he faithfully gives it his all while still fully retaining his faith. He loves these guys and is accepted by them 100%.

Requirements:
• Head shot and resume stapled together.
• Auditioners should prepare a short selection from a pop song (no musical theatre songs, please). Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided.
