Piven Theatre Workshop and Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre are seeking submissions for a number of roles in their upcoming World Premiere of A HOME ON THE LAKE, as well as Fleetwood-Jourdain’s 2018 Season.
A HOME ON THE LAKE by Stephen Fedo & Tim Rhoze (World Premiere)
A Home on the Lake is the story of two Evanston families in two eras whose lives are disrupted by matters of property and race. In 1920, as the Great Migration begins to change the demographics of Evanston, two entrepreneurs--one white, one African American--make business deals that will result in the relocation of black residents to what will become, for generations thereafter, the city's "black district." Their business decisions have consequences for their own families, including one that isn't revealed for nearly a century, when the current descendants of those two families are faced with the question of who has a right to a home on the lake.

-2 African American men, ages 25-40
In this 2002 Pulitzer Prize Winner, by one of America’s most celebrated playwrights, an eloquently profane story exposes the traps of being African American and male in the United States; and the masks these men must wear to survive. Brothers Lincoln and Booth are the cornerstones of this thrilling comic drama, giving us insight into the role of deception and betrayal in some Black men’s lives.

- 1 African American, male, 35+, strong singer
When the remarkably talented playwright/actor Regina Taylor’s Gospel Musical reveals the story of six African-American women and the hats they wear to church, you know that you are in for the time of your life! As told over the course of a Sunday, we journey with these women as they attend church service, a wedding, a funeral and a baptism. Ultimately, we are gifted with the knowledge of what Black women had to go through just to wear a hat.
