Based on the perennial holiday movie favorite, A CHRISTMAS STORY chronicles young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams, an official Red Ryder® Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle.

An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish.

Hailed by The Associated Press as “a joyous Christmas miracle,” The New York Times writes “I was dazzled. You’d have to have a Grinch-sized heart not to feel a smile spreading across your face.”

A CHRISTMAS STORY is a triple-dog-dare of a good time and it is sure to warm your heart this holiday season!

Produced by: Joseph Patrick
Directed by: Alan Kinsella

Character Breakdown – All performers may be asked to perform multiple roles.

Ralph – as an adult – Narrator
A charismatic storyteller who has the ability to weave a spell and draw an audience into his nostalgic world. Good natured, humorous, great comic timing, maybe a little curmudgeonly… but he has a huge heart and such sweet memories of his childhood.

Ralphie Parker
Ralph at 9 years old a regular kid – winsome but not precious. He wouldn’t be lost in a crowd, but he wouldn’t stand out either. Bright, but not precocious, a kid you wouldn’t mind living next door to.

Mother
More in charge of the family than The Old Man is, but she would never let him know it. Warm, affable, a bit daffy. Quirky and offbeat version of your typical vintage TV mom. Always busy, she is the secret engine that keeps the family running.

The Old Man
Devoted father with a good heart, which is often buried beneath a gruff, impatient exterior. Loves his family dearly but doesn’t overtly show it. He usually expects the worst but is secretly a dreamer and is prone to flights of fancy (like his son Ralphie). His fantasies transform him from grumbling blue-collar dad to true song-and-dance man. Movement skills a plus.

Randy
Ralph’s little brother

Miss Shields
The local elementary schoolteacher. Seemingly stereotypical 1940’s educator; prim and proper, stern when necessary, warm underneath. In Ralphie’s fantasies, she becomes a dynamic, show-stopping belter and tapper… among other things.

Flick
Ralph’s friend and classmate

Schwartz
Ralph’s friend and classmate

Ether Jane Alberry
Ralph’s classmate

Helen Weathers
Ralph’s classmate

Scut Farkas
The class bully
