Children Ages 7 to 13 Encouraged to Attend
Ford’s Theatre Society announced that auditions for children’s roles in the company’s productions of A Christmas Carol will be held August 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and August 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Ford’s Theatre Center for Education and Leadership (514 Tenth Street NW). Those interested in auditioning should pre-register for a specific day via the website (
https://www.fords.org/work-with-us/auditions). All auditionees will be seen in the order they arrive on site on August 23 or 24. Families will be notified if their child is requested for a callback. Callbacks will be held August 25.
Children between the ages of 7 and 13, who reside in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metro areas, must prepare an a cappella verse/chorus from a Christmas song of their choosing and the scene materials for their specific age group, which are available for download on the Ford’s Theatre website at
https://www.fords.org/work-with-us/auditions.
Children also should bring a photo and résumé to auditions. Detailed information and conflict sheets also are posted on the Ford’s Theatre Auditions webpage.
Please review the rehearsal and performance schedule (November 5, 2019 through January 1, 2020) prior to auditioning. Those with conflicts should not attend the open auditions on August 23 and 24.
A Christmas Carol Auditions
A Christmas Carol features 14 participating children, ages 7-13: two teams of seven children who will split performances and must be able to perform at all performances. The rehearsal and performance commitment dates for this year’s A Christmas Carol cast are November 5, 2019 to January 1, 2020.
Rehearsals will be held after school (4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.) on weekdays, and all day (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) on Saturdays and Sundays. Most Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are normal days off. Technical rehearsals begin November 16 and the span of day shifts from noon to 10:00 p.m. or noon-11:30 p.m. (times subject to change). All performances of A Christmas Carol are at Ford’s Theatre (511 10th Street NW).
