Children Ages 6 to 13 Encouraged to Attend
The Ford’s Theatre Society announced that auditions for children’s roles in the company’s production of A Christmas Carol will be held August 22 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ford’s Theatre Center for Education and Leadership (514 Tenth Street NW). Those interested in auditioning may sign up for an audition timeslot on site beginning at 8:30 a.m. Callbacks will be held on August 23, 2015. Children between the ages of 6 and 13, who reside in the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metro areas, must prepare a verse from a traditional Christmas song of their choosing and the scene materials for their specific age group, which are available for download on the Ford’s Theatre website at
http://www.fords.org/work-ford-s/upcoming-auditions. Children also should bring a photo and résumé to auditions. Detailed information and conflict sheets also are posted on the Ford’s Theatre Auditions webpage.
The rehearsal and performance commitment dates for this year’s A Christmas Carol cast are November 3 to December 31, 2015. Rehearsals will be held after school (3 p.m.-8 p.m.) on weekdays, and all day (10 a.m.-6 p.m.) on Saturdays and Sundays. Most Mondays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are normal days off. Technical rehearsals begin November 14 and the span of day shifts from noon-10 p.m. or noon-11:30 p.m. (times subject to change). All performances of A Christmas Carol will be held at Ford’s Theatre (511 10th Street NW).
Those with conflicts during the show rehearsal and performance period should not attend the open auditions on August 22.
Families will be notified if their child is requested for a callback. Those with questions should visit the Auditions page of the Ford’s Theatre website for detailed information:
