SYNOPSIS: This singular sensation burst on the Broadway scene in 1975 with a never-before-seen look inside the hearts of dancers willing to give their all for a spot in a Broadway show. Now, more than four decades later, the Tony award-winning show continues to resonate with sizzling dance numbers and unforgettable characters whose passion and stories ring as true in today’s world as they ever have before.
SEEKING:
ZACH: Male. The director and choreographer of the show. Former dancer. Has had a past relationship with Cassie. Strong actor who moves well.
LARRY: Male. Tenor. Zach’s assistant. Confident in his role. Strong dancer.
AL DELUCA: Male. Baritone. From the Bronx. Street tough and newly married to Kristine. Strong singer and dancer.
BEBE BENZENHEIMER: Female. Mezzo. Natural and unaffected, quiet, funny and kind. Masks her insecurity with humor. Strong singer and dancer.
BOBBY MILLS: Male. Baritone. Witty and sharp tongued. Had a very hard childhood; covers everything over with a joke. Strong comic timing.
CASSIE FERGUSON: Female. Soprano. Returning to the chorus after years of being a featured performer. Very strong dancer. Previously had a relationship with Zach. Strong actor, singer & dancer.
CONNIE WONG: Female. Alto. Asian. Small in stature, but great amounts of energy. Strong dancer who sings.
DIANA MORALES: Female. Alto. Latinx. Determined and street smart, a little bit tough, eternal optimist and starry eyed. Funny, charming and vulnerable. Strong actor, singer & dancer.
DON KERR: Male. Baritone. Very sure of himself. Married and from the Midwest. Strong dancer.
GREGORY GARDENER: Male. Baritone. Confident. Wicked wit. Very East Side New York. Strong dancer.
JUDY TURNER: Female. Mezzo. Funny, nervous, warm and hopeful. Very awkward except when dancing. Strong actor and dancer.
KRISTINE URICH: Female. Comedic sensibility and nervous energy. Married to Al. She can’t sing. Strong dancer.
MAGGIE WINSLOW: Female. Soprano. A sweet, giving, trusting dreamer. Dreamer. Strong singer and dancer.
MARK ANTHONY: Male. Tenor. Optimistic, naïve and charming. Youngest of the group. Strong dancer.
MIKE COSTA: Male. Tenor. Determined, charismatic and confident. Experienced & flirtatious. Strong dancer and singer.
PAUL SAN MARCO: Male. Baritone. Latinx. Introverted and slightly insecure but loves performing; only now starting to feel comfortable about being gay and accepted by his parents. Strong actor and dancer.
RICHIE WALTERS: Male. Tenor. African-American. From Missouri. Enthusiastic, charming and very funny. Strong dancer and singer.
SHEILA BRYANT: Female. Alto. One of the more experienced dancers on the line. Confident, sophisticated and humorous. Sexy. Strong actor and dancer.
VAL CLARK: Female. Alto. Sexy, sassy, direct and funny. Brazen. Strong actor, singer and dancer.

Prepare for dance call: Please be warmed up and prepared to dance at the beginning of the call. Men bring jazz shoes and sneakers. Women bring heels and flats. Bring hardcopy headshot/resume.
If called back to sing and/or read: Please prepare a brief cut (16-32 bars) of an up-tempo song that shows off your personality. You may also sing from the show if you wish. Please also bring your book and be prepared to sing a second brief cut, if asked. An accompanist will be provided. Bring hardcopy headshot/resume. Sides and songs from the show will be provided for callbacks.
