Piedmont Players Theatre (PPT) announces Youth Auditions for A Charlie Brown Christmas

4:30pm and 5:30pm at the Norvell Theater

Piedmont Players Theatre is holding Open Youth Auditions for A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, Tuesday, October 24 & Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 4:30pm & 5:30pm. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, October 26 at 4:30pm. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

Performers should prepare 16 bars from a song in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music. Performers will be taught a brief dance routine at the start of auditions so please dress accordingly.

ABOUT THE SHOW

When Charlie Brown complains about the overwhelming materialism he sees among everyone during the Christmas season, Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant. Charlie Brown accepts, but this proves to be a frustrating endeavor. When an attempt to restore the proper holiday spirit with a forlorn little Christmas fir tree fails, he needs Linus’ help to discover the real meaning of Christmas.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is a stage musical based on the first of many animated television specials based on the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz. Originally airing on CBS in 1965, the special has been repeated at least once every year since its original broadcast, making it the longest-running animated TV special in history.

Charlie Brown gentle, insecure, and lovable, Charlie possesses significant determination and hope, but frequently fails because of his insecurities, outside interference, or plain bad luck.

Snoopy Charlie’s pet beagle. Snoopy is loyal, funny, imaginative and good-natured.

Lucy She is the older sister of Linus. A bossy, crabby, selfish girl who is in love with Schroeder and loves to offer advice to anyone willing to pay a nickel.


Linus Lucy’s eccentric younger brother, Linus is highly intelligent but still sucks his thumb.

Pig Pen Charlie’s friend who can never stay clean and is constantly surrounded by a cloud of dust.


Frieda A chatterbox who is very proud of her “naturally curly hair.”


Schroeder Charlie’s closest friend, Schroeder is distinguished by his precocious skill at playing the piano and his love of classical music, Beethoven in particular. He is also the object of Lucy's unrequited love.


Violet Patty’s best friend, Violet is a young “Suzy Homemaker” and somewhat of a snob.


Sally Sally is the complex younger sister of Charlie Brown. On one hand, she is good-hearted, sweet, and innocent. However, on the other, she can be lazy, naive, obsessive, greedy, and insecure.


Patty Violet’s closest friend, Patty is often plays the role of mother hen to the other kids.


Shermy Charlie Brown’s straight man, Shermy is superior to Charlie, especially in athletics.
