Kentwood Players will hold open auditions for Amy Herzog’s dramatic comedy “4000 Miles” on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 11:00am-4:00pm
and on Sunday, March 15 from 6:00-9:00pm. If necessary, callbacks will be held on Monday, March 16 at 7:00pm.. Auditions and performances take place at the Westchester Playhouse, located at 8301 Hindry Avenue, Westchester, CA 90045.
Performance dates are May 15 to June 20, 2015 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, Sundays at 2:00pm. This is a non-equity, non-paid production directed by Gail Bernardi and produced by Susan Goldman Weisbarth by special arrangement with Samuel French.
After suffering a major loss while he was on a cross-country bike trip, 21 year-old Leo seeks solace from his feisty 91 year-old grandmother Vera in her spacious rent-controlled Greenwich Village apartment that hasn't been redecorated since 1968. The key decorative element is books. Over the course of the month of September in current time, these unlikely roommates infuriate, bewilder, and ultimately reach each other in many ways. “4000 Miles” looks at how two outsiders find their way in today's hectic world. The play was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, won the 2012 Obie Award for Best New American Play, and was named Time magazine's #1 Play or Musical of 2012.
Those auditioning should arrive early to sign-in and complete paperwork. Please bring a current headshot and resume with you as well as your calendar. A tentative rehearsal schedule will be posted at auditions and you will be asked to note any conflicts. Script sides will be provided.
The director requests that you be familiar with the play and its characters. Please email the production staff at
4000miles@kentwoodplayers.org
with any questions about the auditions.
