25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE - Laguna Playhouse Non Equity Auditions

Recently, we held auditions and callbacks for Laguna Playhouse’s youth theatre production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. While we had an amazing group of musical theatre actors of all ages audition, we are definitely short on male-identifying and non-binary HS/college-aged actors (actors who are thirties and read younger are great too) to play the different dads in the show.

Education@lagunaplayhouse.com to request an audition. Feel free also to submit a self-tape including: your slate, 1 minute monologue, 16 bars of a song (yes, it can be from the show).

• Carl Grubenierre: One of SchwartzandGrubenierre's fathers; he has set his heart on his little girl winning the Bee, no matter what he has to do, including sabotaging William's foot.
• Dan Schwartz: SchwartzandGrubenierre's other father; he is more laid back and doting than Carl but is still intent on his daughter winning the Bee.
• Olive's Dad: he is working late, but he appears in Olive's imagination to encourage her and tell her he loves her.

Rehearsal location: Laguna Beach, Ca

Rehearsals: 1st readthru is Feb 1; rehearsals begin Feb 6; rehearsals are Thurs/Fri evenings, Sat/Sun during the day. Not all actors are called to each rehearsal.

Performance location: Laguna Playhouse

Tech Week begins 3/31

Performances: April 4-6 (5 shows)

This is a non-Equity production.

Please note: this is an ALL AGES production which means we cast actors that are youth and adult aged.
