Young Playwrights Initiative in The Forge at The Court Theatre presents Fourplay: four short pieces created by four young playwrights and two young directors with input from seasoned professionals, put together in the past eight weeks.  

Plays featured:

The Cut by Georgia-Kate Heard
"The chicken, the egg or the test tube?" After a reproduction introduction in the waiting room of a fertility clinic, Jane and John come out with more than they had bargained for.

The Art of Letting Go by Matt Powell.
At the opening of Jamie's sell-out exhibition, an old flame makes a fiery entrance back into his life.

Cursed by Bigfoot by Andrew Todd
The Eskimos call him "Bushman"; the Colville Indians call him "Sasquatch"; the Hoopas call him "Oma". But right now, let's just call him "Bigfoot".

What makes us do the things we do? What makes us say the things we say? What makes us feel the things we feel? Combining text, sound and movement, the delicate pursuit for answers begins.

The showcase will be presented on December 15 and December 16 at 7pm. After the four readings, the audience is invited to join a brief forum about their taste experience.

The Forge at The Court is one of two auditoria in New Zealand's foremost theatre company producing new plays of the highest quality throughout the year. Until recently The Forge was used as a "hosting venue" by touring or independent productions, and from 2007 The Forge became The Court's staging ground for new international, local and devised works presented to an adventurous audience engaged with contemporary theatre.
