The Court Theatre is celebrating new work in SPRING IN THE SHED, a special festival of new scripts with a unique opportunity for audiences to be a part of the writing process.
Between 19 August until 2 September, six pieces will be rehearsed by actors and directors, then presented to audiences as "works in progress", with forums after each for audiences to give their feedback to the playwright.
SPRING IN THE SHED coordinator, Court Theatre Literary Manager Elizabeth O'Connor, is excited about the line-up of new plays on offer.
"This festival has splendid variety," O'Connor says, "There's comedy, drama, even a musical about Frances Hodgkins. It's a rich opportunity for writers and audiences alike."
Artistic Director of The Court Theatre Ross Gumbley is also enthusiastic about SPRING IN THE SHED. "The excitement of being at the birth of a script is quite intoxicating and quite unlike any other thrill we experience in the theatre."
All tickets $10 each - book at The Court Theatre on 963 0870 or online at www.courttheatre.org.bz.
