Papakura Theatre Company (Inc) presents ROMEO AND JULIET at the Off Broadway Theatre on Elliot Street (opposite RSA) in Papakura, Saturday 13 - 27 July at 8 p.m., with matinees on Sundays 14 & 21 July at 2 p.m.

This most popular of Shakespearean plays tells the story of two star-crossed young lovers whose deaths ultimately reunites their feuding families. With both comedy and tragedy to heighten the tension as the story plays out, Romeo and Juliet hurtle towards their destiny. Award-winning Director DArin Blackman and his Co-Director Kylie Maddren-Milne bring to our stage their interpretation of this well-known story.

Whilst this production is being played in traditional costume on the 'streets' of Verona, some of the text has been adapted for ease of understanding, although the flow of the language is certainly still there. Music links each scene and adds its own touch to this energy-filled production with its young and talented cast. Sword-fighting, dancing, humour, music, murder, romance, tragedy and, finally, reconciliation - Romeo & Juliet has it all!

This is something a little different for Papakura Theatre Company,- it's the first time in their nearly 60 years' history that they have produced a Shakespearean play. Suitable for all ages, Romeo & Juliet has ticket prices set to encourage families to share this special production. With a good view from every seat, Off Broadway offers an intimate and friendly theatre experience.
