New Zealand's BATS Theatre continues the season with its Easter line-up.
The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later by Moises Kauffman and the Tectonic Theatre Project presents its final three shows through 5 April, 2012 at 8:30 p.m. An epilogue to the iconic play The Laramie Project, edited together from interviews within the community of Laramie, Wyoming following the murder of Matthew Shepherd in an apparent hate crime. The story belongs to Laramie, but its message is universal. The New Zealand premiere production is directed by Katharine McGill and Daniel Williams.
Next, These Are the Skeletons of Us by Chris Neels runs its final three shows through 5 April at 6:30 p.m. Follow the story of Guy as he looks back on his first truly loving relationship immediately after a sudden break up. Coming to BATS from an acclaimed season in Auckland, this is a love story told backwards. The audience is taken into the journey of this less than perfect relationship told through the eyes of a young man.
Society Slump Superstars by Joshua Hopton-Stewart runs through 14 April at 8 p.m. It takes one thing to raise the spirits of a nation plagued by recession: an erratic Prime Minister who believes the best option is to turn real life into a musical “because everybody knows that people in musicals are always happy!” Suspend your disbelief and follow a group of high school students as they try to adapt to a new way of life where a wavering note, a wrong lyric, or a tap with the wrong foot could be their demise.
And finally, NUCKING FUTS by Alex Lodge and Cherie Jacobsen runs 12 April-21 April at 6:30 p.m. From the creators of the Chapman Tripp nominated Tea for Toot comes a new comedy about self-publishing, self-promotion, and self-humiliation. Some people shouldn’t be allowed the internet. Cleo Kline is one of them.
BATS Theatre is located at 1 Kent Terrace, Wellington, Aotearoa. For tickets, email your name, the show, date and number of tickets to book@bats.co.nz or visit http://www.bats.co.nz.
