Warning: contains traces of nuts, (p)leather and Dusty Springfield
Direct from Melbourne, international artist, Jason Chasland, returns home for the New Zealand premiere of Leather Lungs: Son of a Preacher. Within the burgeoning genre of alternative cabaret, be roused into a delightfully naughty world fusing good old-fashioned fun with the romp of vaudeville. Leather Lungs crosses with religion, fistfights with sexuality and discos with dildos.
Jason has sung for Adele and performed a hit season of his self-written work Impostar, at Q Theatre in Auckland Pride 2017 (previously performed in Hollywood).
Leather Lungs is a master of falsetto and stiletto with an alien vocal range across four octaves - a rare phenomenon. Audiences will be drawn into a world of pleasure, amusement and challenge, stunned, mesmerised, buckled with laughter and turning to their neighbour in shock.
Performed as part of an Australasian tour including Melbourne's Midsumma Festival 2018 (January), Auckland Pride 2018 (February) and Adelaide Fringe 2018 (March).
Written and performed by Jason Chasland. More information at https://www.jasonchasland.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/jasonchasland/. Producer, Geoffrey Bryan, is a lawyer turned creative. This charismatic couple are partners in life and in work.
