HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL will close on 2/21 at Canterbury Children's Theatre.
For those people who have lived under a rock for the past few years here is the back story of High School Musical 2 (or HSM2 for those in the loop) It is Summer vacation for the teens who we got to know and love in the first installment and with college looming, jobs are needed but ones with a spot of fun to be had too. With the help of Sharpay and then ultimately Troy the entire gang find themselves working at a Country Club. However, when the summer talent show comes around, friendships start to fray and dissolve. Will this be it for Troy and Gabrielle? Will Sharpay and Ryan actually remain brother and sister? What are the big problems facing the gang? And finally, can everyone come together to actually finish the show?
HSM2 is no tiny show, with upwards of 15 different locations, golf carts, a show within a show within a show and the challenges of actually perfecting the performance to the standards and expectations of children who have seen the movie hundreds of times everyone involved has a massive challenge ahead of them. With the cast humu-humu-ing, fabulousing and batter, batter, battering upwards of six times a week the work surely is being put in. The set is being painted, the crew wrangling (and hopefully bulking up for the pushing of monstrous set pieces) and the cast going through their routines over and over again the show shaping up to be something of a real treat.
High School Musical 2 plays for a STRICTLY LIMITED SEASON at the James Hay Theatre, February 13-21 2010, bookings at Ticketek.
