Broadway Dreams is expanding its international programming to include New Zealand with a nine-day program, January 14 - January 21, 2018. The internationally renowned arts education non-profit will bring its unique brand of performing arts training to Takapuna School in Aukland, NZ.
Auditions for the program, which will culminate in a public performance, are currently underway in cities throughout NZ, where they will continue through October 30, 2017. Perspective students will have the opportunity to audition for some of New Zealand's most accomplished performers and industry titans, including Stuart Maunder, PatRick Kelly, James Rodgers and Wendy Doyle (NZ Opera), Tina Cross (Rocky Horror Show, Chicago), Alexandra McKellar (Urinetown), Delia Hannah (Chess), Jackie Clarke ("New Zealand Idol"), and Hadley Taylor and Adam Spedding (The Other People Co). The Broadway faculty for the Broadway Dreams New Zealand program will include acclaimed choreographer / director Otis Sallid (Smokey Joe's Cafe, Mariah Carey at the Beacon), Tony Award nominated director / choreographer and newly appointed Theatre Under the Stars Artistic Director Dan Knechtges (Xanadu), composer and music director Lynne Shankel (Allegiance), Craig D'Amico (Fiddler on the Roof), and Broadway Dreams Founder and casting director Annette Tanner.
Additional international activity includes a "Voice, Body & Soul" workshop in Sweden January 5 - 7, 2018 led by acclaimed international tenor, Florian Voss (The Royal Swedish Opera) and a return to Brasilia, Brazil March 24 - April 1, 2018 in a partnership with Broadway Brazil and CAIXA Economica.
Over the past two years, Broadway Dreams has conducted successful programs in Moscow, Russia in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Moscow and Stage Entertainment Russia and in Fortaleza, Brazil in partnership with CAIXA Cultural.
Broadway Dreams (Annette Tanner, Founder and President), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization established in 2006, provides youth and young adults of all socioeconomic backgrounds with performance training, life skills building, and mentorship opportunities from the entertainment industry's most distinguished talents. Broadway Dreams seeks to empower aspiring young artists through performing arts training, with a focus on the acting, voice, and dance disciplines. Program intensives are offered nationally and internationally throughout the year. To date, over 11,000 students have participated, with over $1M in scholarships disbursed.
