BWW Previews: [TITLE OF SHOW] at Westpoint Performing Arts Centre

[title of show] is a winner; a funny modern spin on the backstage musical, a love letter to those who make and those who appreciate the modern musical. It is hilarious, cheeky, ironic, witty, charismatic, moving and huge fun!

[title of show] is perfect for the audiences who attend Auckland Music Theatre shows. It's edgy, cleverly constructed, intelligently funny, great plot premise and a big dose of sass!

The show is pretty much the Urban Dictionary definition of "meta". It not only chronicles its own creation as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, it also chronicles the struggles of the author and composer/lyricist as they create a musical about creating a musical. It's sort of like those endlessly reflective funhouse mirrors.

Language rider: and I quote from the script "we say 'motherfucker' six times and 'fuck' eleven times." "Well now it's seven and twelve."

The show opens with Jeff and Hunter talking about entering the upcoming New York Musical Theatre Festival. The deadline is three weeks away, but they decide to go for it in an attempt to make a mark on the theatre world. They recruit their friends Susan and Heidi to help them with the project.

The boys will write the show, and everyone will perform and if their show is a hit, they can take it to Broadway.

This is a show about dreaming out loud, risk-taking, friendship and life while writing a show with friends in a one-act review spanning 90 minutes with no interval.

It's a totally excellent way for Auckland Music Theatre to kick of NZ Theatre month and a brilliant way for you to spend your mid-week evening! Get along to the opening tonight!
