Imagine, not only are you at the precipice of a moment where the worst effects of climate change can still be averted, but also, you’re a crawfish in New Orleans. Come immerse yourself in theater, then cool down with us through the power of organizing as we sing you funny songs.

Written by librarian and local performer Rel Farrar, directed by Danielle Small (Waterworld, the Musical), the 2024 production of Out of the Boil is a hilarious live musical theater experience. The original script features live piano performances from Neal Todten, plenty of pre-apocalyptic antics, along with awesome garbage sets and props by Alex Powell. We’ll have some drinks, we’ll have some laughs, we’ll organize to laissez le bon temps rouler.

The cast stars New Orleans musical talent Jade Thanars, Laura Bernas, Mike Marina, Amy DeNisco, Rachel Kim, Pete Wolf, Ratty Scurvics, Billie Little, and Meagan Miller.

Cast

Angela Griffitt

Nurse
Angela Griffitt has called New Orleans home since 2006 and have spent the past decade as a hairstylist at Fifi’s Bywater Salon, where I’ve had the pleasure of creating unique looks for an incredible community. Though I’ve always had a passion for musicals, stage fright has kept me on the sidelines—until now. This show marks a significant step outside my comfort zone, and I’m excited to embrace the challenge and share this experience with everyone!

Ratty Scurvics

Chef Bezos
Thirty years in theater. Some notable roles I've lived in are Sweeney Todd, Captain Maceath, Cleante (Mollier's Tartuff), Riff Raff (original 1973 stage play) and Sandor Ferenzie in Porcupine. I've also written, produced, directed and acted in several plays; The Shadow Merchant and The Legend of Suzie Sidesaddle were included in Infringe Fest and Fringe Fest respectively. As a composer I won a best original score award from Ambush magazine for The Madwoman of Challiotte. I love this work.

Megan Harris Brunious

Bartender
Megan Harris Brunious (b.1979) is a writer and musician, with several independent books, countless online articles and touring credits with Hank Williams III and Peaches. She has been writing and performing since her childhood in the early 1980s.

Rachel Kim

Teacher
Rachel Kim is thrilled to be making her musical debut in Out of The Boil! After graduating from Florida Atlantic University in the Boca Raton, she was drawn to the art, culture and flavor of the city of New Orleans and it has adopted her in the most loving way. She loves crawfish, DJ Soul Sister dance parties, VHS tapes and jazz. Rachel kim would like to dedicate her performance to Gregorio Antonio Alvarez who is her rock, artistic collaborator and heart.

Amy DeNisco

Social Worker
Amy DeNisco is extremely excited to join Krewe d’Oil Futures as a singing, dancing, environmentalist crawfish. Although relatively new to the local theatre scene, lately she's been experimenting with feminist interpretations of Shakespearean characters, and once a month you can find her at the local sea shanty sing-along. Amy is also a proud member of her union, which also holds a lot of meetings.

Mike Marina

Waiter
Mike Marina is a talented jack of all trades. As an award winning chef, poet, and librarian, you can see him on stage at Esoterotica, competing on Food Network’s Guys Grocery Games, or hosting different food pop ups around the city. Granted, his favorite artistic pastime is poetry. He co-authored the Fringe show Beyond Desire and has been featured in the Esoterotica anthology Enflame and the Poetry Buffet Anthology. When he isn't cooking, writing or performing, you can see him dancing in Paul Mccartney’s music video Come On To Me #TeamFred. To follow more of his creative endeavors follow him on instagram @chefmikemarina

Peat Wolf

IT Person
A fischer, Peat Wolf wants to consume and compost frivolously invasive little commercial-candied dalliances that scamper about denuding the young budding brush and preventing old growth fables from again sinking true roots. Endlessly enthusiastic for fresh fearless howlers to join this loving hunt for truths, Peat believes the proper pack of diverse storied tellers can reclaim land from toxic taming attempts at saccharine screen-sedated domestication. They nourish words to finer lines and perform those shores to sheerer strands as the rivers flow to cut ever deeper and more direct.

Gabriela Bromley

Electrician
By day, Gabriela Micaela helps minds heal as an inpatient mental health technician, but by night, she swings and sings into the rhythm of New Orleans traditional blues jazz performance. Making her debut in musical theater, she's excited to take her voice from the stage of her dreams to the one before you. Jazz hands, anyone?"
