Jesus Christ Superstar Opens Friday, March 15, at Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie
Featuring a Live Orchestra & an Ensemble Cast of 34 Performers
(March 10, 2024—Metairie, Louisiana)—Jefferson Performing Arts Society will present Andrew Lloyd Webber’s passionate and popular blockbuster musical Jesus Christ Superstar for five performances over two weekends at Jefferson Performing Arts Center March 15 through 24, 2024.
March 15 at 7:30 p.m. Opening Night
March 17 at 2:00 p.m.
March 21 at 7:30 p.m. Industry Night ($20 at the door for theater workers and educators)
March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
March 24 at 2:00 p.m. Closing Matinee
On April 5, there will be a special touring performance of the show at Columbia Theatre in Hammond, LA.
The show features a wide range of performers in age and experience, from accomplished opera singers such as Metropolitan Opera bass-baritone George Cordes (Caiaphas), as well as opera singers Torlef Borsting (Pontius Pilate) and Bogdan Mynka (Jesus, Hammond production) to emerging local performers such as NOCCA musical theatre students Jackson Scott (Andrew the Apostle) and Tyger Hammons (Jude the Apostle).
Jesus Christ will be portrayed by New Orleans native Michael Moore, now residing in Germany with his wife Nadine Kühn, who is portraying Mary Magdalene. Moore attended St. Martin’s Episcopal School and NOCCA. He is returning home to work with one of his New Orleans mentors, Jesus Christ Superstar director and choreographer Kenneth Beck. Judas Iscariot is portrayed by Jake Wynne-Wilson, last seen onstage at JPAS in his role as Prince Topher in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, also directed by Beck. Mary Magdalene is portrayed by Nadine Kühn, making her North American debut. Annas is portrayed by Adriel Aviles, last seen as The Monster in Young Frankenstein on the JPAS stage in October. Simon Zealotes is portrayed by Ty Robbins, last seen onstage at JPAS in The View UpStairs. The ensemble cast is comprised of 34 total performers.
