A cast of over two dozen local actors are at work at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, now rehearsing for HAIR, the popular rock musical, which runs Nov. 8 - 23. Troy R. Poplous will direct a cast of 25 actors which will be accompanied by a six piece orchestra directed by Robert Pate.
HAIR tells the story of a group of politically active, long-haired hippies opposed to the draft during the Vietnam War. Among the cast members are local actors Kirk Gagnon, Jake Loup, Matthew Thompson, Kyle Aucoin, Sarah Carlton, Courtney Kattengell, IDella Johnson and Aaron Lind.
Audiences will find themselves singing along to hits like Hair, Aquarius, Let the Sun Shine In, Good Morning Starshine, Easy to Be Hard, and many more.
"HAIR made its debut in 1967 as the first-ever rock musical. If you saw it then, you will want to see it again and if you have never seen it, you should, to appreciate its artistic political expression and a fantastic musical score that is still popular today," said Cassie Steck Worley, Le Petit Theatre's executive director.
