One Arm is Moisés Kaufman's adaptation of a screenplay by Tennessee Williams, based on his short story of the same title. A navy veteran and boxer who lost his arm in a car accident must resort to hustling on Canal Street to make his living. When a john pushes him too far, though, he finds himself on death row. He escapes into the correspondence of his past clients for spiritual salvation until his number is up. Moisés Kaufman is founder and Artistic Director of Tectonic Theater Project, a Tony- and Emmy-nominated director and playwright, and a National Medal of Arts winner. He has directed Jessica Chastain, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Liev Schreiber, and Robin Williams, among many others. His play The Laramie Project (which he wrote with the Tectonic Theater Project) is among the most performed plays in America. Kaufman also co-wrote and directed the HBO film adaptation of The Laramie Project, which received Emmy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Writing, the GLAAD Media Award, the National Board of Review (Best TV Movie), and the Humanitas Prize. He is an OBIE Award winner and a Guggenheim Fellow in Playwriting.

Moisés Kaufman will hold a discussion Saturday, March 24 following the Tennessee Williams Theater Company of New Orleans' production of his play, One Arm.
