"The peak of my virtuosity was in the one-act plays. Some of which are like firecrackers in a rope."

- Tennessee Williams in a letter to Elia Kazan.

Expect a sparkling debut to our 2011 Festival with "Bright, Beautiful Things: A World Premiere of Tennessee Williams One-Acts" a special event hosted by the incomparable four-time Tony award winner, Zoe Caldwell on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Southern Repertory Theatre.

Get your tickets now to be amongst the first to see three never-before produced one-acts by our namesake playwright.

"The Pretty Trap: A Comedy in One Act" follows the Wingfield family and sheds unique light on the seminal full-length play it grew into, The Glass Menagerie. "The Magic Tower" depicts a bohemian artist couple's struggles to live their dreams, while "Every Twenty Minutes" is a satire of modern life. The performances, directed by Mark Routhier and produced by the Southern Repertory Theatre, promise new revelations about Williams' work and genius.

The evening includes an intimate cocktail reception, where we hope to toast the start of our landmark CenTENNial Festival with you. Ticket price also includes a copy of the book, The Magic Tower and Other One-Act Plays by Tennessee Williams with a foreword by Terrence McNally.
