The Tennessee Williams Literary Festival is kicking off its 2016-17 season with an exciting evening of music, drama, culinary delights, and luscious libations. "Suddenly THIS Summer" will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016, in the French Quarter.
You'll begin your evening at 6 pm at Gallier House (1132 Royal Street) where you'll sip a welcome cocktail and view the Tennessee Williams exhibit focusing on his life and writing in the French Quarter. Enjoy the sultry sounds of Beth Bartley and Todd d'Amour, who recently starred in Williams' Orpheus Descending in New Orleans and New York.
At about 6:45 you'll stroll around the corner to Beauregard-Keyes House (1113 Chartres) for a staged reading of "Something Unspoken" by our namesake, Tennessee Williams. Brenda Currin and Beth Bartley reprise their roles of Miss Cornelia Scott and Miss Grace Lancaster in the ballroom of this historic house.
Afterwards, you can wander through the beautiful rooms and into the lush courtyard and enjoy food and drinks, including a specialty cocktail created by SoBou's bar chef, Laura Bellucci.
Tickets for this 2016-17 season opening fundraiser are $100. Proceeds from the evening will support our educational outreach initiatives and literary programs for our 31st annual Festival to be held March 22 - 26, 2017. Click here for tickets or call the festival office at 504-581-1144.
