THE MUSIC MAN Marches On To The Mainstage at Rivertown Theater Image

Rivertown Theater will be transformed into River City, Iowa when Professor Harold Hill comes to town to form a boy's band when the all-time favorite musical, The Music Man opens the new season September 14, 2018.

"Oh, we've got trouble, right here in River...town!" It may be indecent to meet boys at the footbridge, according to the Mayor's daughter, Zaneeta Shinn, but theatergoers will definitely find themselves under the spell of the fast-talking Harold Hill and the cast of colorful and stubborn Iowans in Rivertown Theater's first show of the 2018-19 season! One of the most cherished musicals in American theatre, Meredith Willson's The Music Man, marches onto the mainstage to kick-off Rivertown Theater's seventh remarkable season with a full orchestra. Look for the Wells Fargo Wagon along with 76 trombones, the lovely but skeptical librarian, the town's singing, feuding City Council quartet and the classic songs and dances so well-known and loved. Described "as American as apple pie" by the New York Times, this great American classic is a six-time, Tony Award winning musical comedy that has been entertaining audiences since 1957.
