Southern Rep Theatre to Host Third WORK HARD PLAY HARD, 6/23

Southern Rep has announced that it will host its annual WORK HARD PLAY HARD from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm June 23rd, 2014 at Il Posto (4607 Dryades Street). WORK HARD PLAY HARD will feature live music, an all-you-can-eat buffet, an open bar, and a silent auction/raffle of donated items and services from local artists and businesses, with all proceeds benefitting the job creation, professional development and artistic empowerment efforts that are part of Southern Rep's "New Play Development" mission: 6x6, and 3x3: THE ONE ACTS. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Southern Rep Theatre is embarking on its 28th season as the region's premiere professional theatre, producing bold world and regional premieres under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director, Aimée Hayes. Southern Rep's Mainstage Season work includes the best of Broadway, off-Broadway, classic plays, and world premieres. Their Lagniappe Series DEBAUCHERY!, 6x6, 3x3, and Pints and Plays reflect the company's ongoing commitment to new play development. Southern Rep's innovative "School to Stage Pipeline" of Arts Education Programs serve as a resource for New Orleans' students and youth interested in pursuing creative ambitions, and The Ruby Prize, a new play award (named in honor of civil rights veteran Ruby Bridges that honors women of color playwrights) supports a more diverse theatre community. Southern Rep is working to keep theatre as accessible as possible by providing senior discounts, free student matinees, $10 student rush tickets, discounts for theatre professionals, a Blue Star Network discount for military families, and a "Pay What You Can Night" to keep its productions affordable for New Orleanians of every income level.
