Southern Rep announces the location of their upcoming production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, by Tennessee Williams, directed by Big Easy Award-Winner, Jason Kirkpatrick, presented in collaboration with InSideOut Productions. STREETCAR will be performed on the very same block where the playwright first imagined it, at Michalopoulos Studios, 527 Elysian Fields Avenue.

Aimée Hayes, Artistic Director state: "What an incredible opportunity to perform this epic play right in the neighborhood where Tennessee Williams envisioned it. When we first workshopped STREETCAR with InSideOut Productions last summer we were astounded by our local community’s support and eagerness to see the play fully staged production, and immediately wanted to have it be part of our 25th Anniversary Season. One of STREETCAR’s primary themes is about re-invention: the Old South adapting to a post-World War II economy and after the loss of Belle Reve, Blanche DuBois leaving Laurel behind and hoping for a new life. We hope you join us for this historic production, and continue to support Southern Rep as we re-invent ourselves and find a new home for our next 25 years."

The first production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE to be performed in New Orleans in more than a decade, the cast of local favorites includes Southern Rep’s Artistic Director, Aimée Hayes as Blanche Dubois, with collaborating presenters InSideOut Productions’ Michael Aaron Santos as Stanley, Ashley Ricord as Stella, and Mike Harkins as Mitch, joined by Austin Alleman, Caitlyn Allison, Charles Buggage, Tracey Collins, Martin Covert, Monica Harris, Jelani Pitcher, Phil Karnell, Melaina Ricks, Dean Austin Wray, and James Yeargain.

Southern Rep says: "Join us for a special FREE Walking Tour Event! One hour prior to each performance, join us for A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE-themed walking tour. Enter Tennessee William's world and discover where Stanley and Stella Kowalski lived, worked and played in 1947 New Orleans. Walking and talking with cocktails will be encouraged! (Early arrival for the FREE Walking Tour will also give audiences access to more ample parking options!)

Marieke Gaboury, Managing Director states: "We are delighted that our production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE gives us another opportunity to collaborate with the celebrated Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival. Our first week of performances coincide with the dates of the Festival, allowing our production to be featured in their very exciting calendar of events. Such collaborations represent invaluable opportunities to grow audiences and share resources with our neighboring not-for-profits."
