Southern Rep Theatre announces updated schedule and cast details for its fall 2018 Mainstage productions, which will kick off the company's "soft opening" in its permanent new home on historic Bayou Road, New Orleans.
Southern Rep's 32nd season opens with the regional premiere of A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 by Lucas Hnath. Preview performances begin Wednesday, October 3, 2018, with official opening night on Monday, October 8. Remaining performances of this limited engagement run Thursdays - Sundays through October 21, 2018.
A DOLL'S HOUSE, PART 2 was critically acclaimed in its recent Broadway run, where it garnered eight Tony Award nominations. The bold comedy stars Jessica Podewell as Nora Helmer, Trey Burvant as Torvald, Liann Pattison as Anne Marie, and Sarah Durn as Emmy. Aimée Hayes directs.
Just in time for the holidays, Southern Rep presents its first world premiere production in its new home with MANDATORY MERRIMENT: AN UNTITLED HOLIDAY MUSICAL created by Leslie Castay and Ian Hoch, book by Ian Hoch. Leslie Castay directs this home-grown seasonal celebration, which features beloved New Orleans performers Cameron-Mitchell Ware, Clint Johnson, Meredith Long, and Whitney Mixon, along with Hoch. Alan Payne serves as Musical Director.
MANDATORY MERRIMENT begins preview performances on Wednesday, November 28, with official opening night on Monday, December 3. Remaining performances run Thursdays - Sundays through December 23, 2018.
Performances run in the Mainstage Theatre at the new home of Southern Rep Theatre at 2541 Bayou Road, New Orleans, LA 70119 in the former St. Rose de Lima church building. All shows are at 7:30 PM except for Sunday matinee performances at 3 PM. One hour before each performance, Southern Rep offers a free event on the Hal Brown Outdoor Community Stage, featuring a changing lineup of musicians, poets, dancers, and other performers. After the Mainstage performance, the Lagniappe Stage hosts after-hours entertainment.

Tickets for the full five-play Mainstage season, which runs through May 2019, are currently available by subscription. Single tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, September 4 at southernrep.com, 504-522-6545, or in person at Southern Rep Theatre.
