Rivertown Theaters to Kick Off 2013-14 Season with 42ND STREET, 9/13-28

Local theater audiences are in for a special musical treat when Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts in Kenner's Rivertown presents "42nd Street" September 13 - 28.

The story of hard work, being in the right place at the right time, talent and love, 42nd STREET is a celebration of Broadway and the people involved in shows. Peggy Sawyer, fresh off the bus from Allentown, Pennsylvania is plucked out of the chorus to save the show when leading lady, Dorothy Brock, breaks her ankle and cannot go on.

Music is by Harry Warren, Lyrics by Al Dubin, and Book by Michael Stewart & Mark Bramble. The hit show features many memorable songs including You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me, Dames, I Know Now, We're In the Money, Shuffle Off to Buffalo, Lullaby of Broadway, and of course, the title song. Every audience enjoys watching the underdog succeed!

CAST: Peggy Sawyer - Kayla Herrington; Dorothy Brock - Cathy Choppin; Maggie Jones - Allee Peck; Anytime Annie - Kelly Fouchi; Julian Marsh - Jason Kirkpatrick; Bert Barry - Price Provenzano; Billy Lawlor - Kyle Aucoin; Andy Lee - Jesse Forcha; Oscar - Nicky Roth; Mac - Bob Murrell; Pat Denning; and Abner Dillon.

Choreographer Danielle Harrell Scheib, granddaughter of local icon Pete Fountain, was on the professional tour of 42nd St. (German company). Rivertown's production will feature all of the original choreography from the revival including a "Busby Berkley" approach to the song DAMES and a big finale tap number, both of which have never been done in a local production.

Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts is located at 325 Minor St. in the heart of Rivertown, Kenner LA. Plenty of parking on the streets around the theater. Performances are Fridays & Saturdays - September 13 - 28 at 8:00pm and Sundays - August 18 & 25 at 2:00pm on the Main Stage. Individual tickets are $32 - $37. Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts kicked off its inaugural "BROADWAY SERIES AT RIVERTOWN" SCHEDULE FOR THE 2012-2013 SEASON with a new name, a new management company, Theatre 13, and new artistic directors, Gary Rucker and Kelly Fouchi. The mission of Theatre 13 is to bring new and exciting productions to the New Orleans area while providing local theatre artists an opportunity to perform, create, and be compensated for their work.

Theatre 13 is producing a wide range of professional theatrical performances, from musicals to children's theatre to more controversial and thought-provoking works for Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts.
