Three hundred campers from the New Orleans Recreation Department Commission got a lesson in showbiz today at an educational program at Le Petit Theatre today. Scroll down for photos from the event!

While good actors are certainly a requirement, there are many additional roles that come into play. NORD campers ranging in age from 6 to 14 years of age heard from theater professionals this morning at the event produced by Le Petit du Vieux Carre's "Because We Can" educational program and Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans.

"Theatre is a business and we were delighted to welcome campers from NORDC and work with Junior Achievement to teach area youths about the important details that take place behind the scenes in order to produce a quality show. It's not just about acting - theatre production involves contracts, ticket sales, carpentry, marketing and more, " said Le Petit Theatre Artistic Director Cassie Steck Worley.

Today's program is the type of career-oriented program produced by Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans (JAGNO). JAGNO is heading into a new school year and is looking for volunteers to help with educational programs in finance and economics presented to children in kindergarten through twelfth grade. To volunteer visit www.jagno.org or call (504) 569-8669.

"Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans is proud of its continuing partnership with NORDC. It has been a privilege to add Le Petit Theatre and The Big Easy Buddies to our summer programming," said David Gelman, director of education, Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans.

In the 2013-2014 school year, JAGNO and its many volunteers touched the lives of more than 28,000 Southeast Louisiana students.

The program was highlighted by live performances from the cast of the popular locally produced musical revue, "Under the Boardwalk," now playing at Le Petit. The Big Easy Buddies and The Big Easy Babes performed excerpts from their hit show, a musical stroll through some of the biggest hits from the Four Seasons, Beach Boys, Doo-wop, and Motown. "Under the Boardwalk" runs through July 26. Tickets may be purchased at www.lepetittheatre.com or by calling (504)-522-2081.
