In their first season of voice theatre productions benefitting new nonprofit theatres in the New Orleans area, NOLA Voice Theatre of New Orleans has produced a new musical theatre festival in conjunction with Mainstreet Musicals, and a full summer season of original voice theatre productions. Their shows have raised over $2,000 for new nonprofit theatres in the New Orleans area at only $10 a ticket. On the heels of that success, the company, on the request of the new InFringe Festival, is reviving their hit original adaptation of the Miklos Lazlos romantic comedy, "The Shop Around the Corner," November 17th through the 19th at the Valiant Theatre and Lounge.
Written for NOLA Voice Theatre by Victor Allan Tallant, "The Shop Around the Corner" features many of the original cast: Soline McLain (AEA) and Richard Mayer star as Amalia and George, with New Orleans theatre icon Edward R. Cox (AEA) as Mr. Maraczek. Featuring BD Boudreaux as Cocherre (SAG-AFTRA), Stephen Denning as Senac, Aria Mason (AGMA) as Ilona, and Darcy Preston. The production is directed by Vatican Lokey (AEA) and Mr. Cox. Production manager is Julia Preston Fulton.
NOLA Voice Theatre is proud to present all of their productions under the auspices of Actors' Equity Association's Members' Project Code.
This production revival comes as "Shop" is nominated for the Broadway World Regional Awards, with nominations for Best Play, and performer nominations for Miss McLain, Mr. Boudreaux, Mr. Cox, and Mr. Lokey.
Performances are Friday, November 17th at 7 pm: Saturday, November 18th at 9 pm, and Sunday, November 19th at 5 pm, as part of InFringe Fest. Tickets for "Shop" and all the InFringe Fest shows are only $10 each, available online at:
