Art-brut international artist Roman Maeder is debuting his work at the Side Arm Gallery, 1122 St Roch, August 15. On his first professional tour of the US. Maeder and his alter ego, Larry Bang Bang--the Swiss Cowboy from Salami, TX--will be touring with Wichita's very own Psychedelic Salon to explore and discover the American way of life, its rich culture and history. ONE NIGHT ONLY! SAT AUG 15 8PM $3-$5 sliding scale.

Drawing on the adventure of touring, Maeder is using guitar, paintbrush and color to infuse our community with his own version of the American Dream. Inspired by a mix of cultures, languages and mentalities, the traveling artist will collect sketches, songs and notes which will reveal an American way of life that is beyond the surface. His work consists equally of performance and paintings which will occur on canvas, cardboard, wood or directly on a wall in the venue.

Maeder begins his journey in New York City, with a Mural at 5 Pointz- just adjacent to the PS1 MoMa in Queens. Not unlike traveling Medicine Shows of yore, Maeder will make his way from the streets of Wichita, KS through Kansas City, to the enchanted waters of Eureka Springs, AR before landing in the Big Easy.

With new knowledge and stereotypes, he will exhibit during the "Boys and Toys" group exhibition at the Late Show Gallery in Kansas City, KS and at a solo show at the Side Arm Gallery in New Orleans, LA before making a final stop in New York City at the Factory Fresh Gallery in Williamsburg.
