Rhode Island-based theatre artist Leigh Hendrix is excited to present her solo performance, How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less, as part of the 2011 New Orleans Fringe Festival. Written and performed by Hendrix, the 60 minute show is a hilarious guide to gay for budding lesbians, no matter their sexual orientation. How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less runs Wednesday, November 16 at 7pm; Friday, November 18 at 9pm; Saturday, November 19 at 11pm; and Sunday, November 20 at 7pm at Cafe Instanbul, 2372 St. Claude Avenue. Tickets are $8 (with $3 Fringe button) and can be purchased by visiting www.nofringe.org on October 1.

How To Be A Lesbian in 10 Days or Less is a sort-of coming out story that appeals to every persuasion. Motivational speaker and expert lesbian Butchy McDyke deftly guides her captive audience in an exploration of self-discovery and first love, coming out, lesbian sex, queer politics, and a really important Reba McEntire song as they learn to confidently shout, "I?m a big ?ol dyke!" Hendrix weaves a story with multiple characters that is one part instructional seminar, one part personal story, and one part wacky performance art.

The show was developed in Boston at Emerson College and at Providence?s Perishable Theatre. With the show?s premier at WAM Theatre?s O Solo Mama Mia Festival in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, Chris Rohman of The Vally Advocate said, " The magic of this show comes from its seamless marriage of pointEd Mockery with personal narrative..." calling Hendrix, "a delightfully surprising and witty performer."

Hendrix creates comedic and personal solo performances and makes theatre as an actor, writer, and improvisor with other artists of all shapes and sizes in Providence, RI. Her solo performance has been seen on college campuses and performance festivals, including the 2011 United Solo Festival in New York City.
