Italian drummer and composer Andrea Marcelli joins saxophonist Woody Witt in a concert to continue the Jazz Underground Series at Loyola University New Orleans Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Satchmo's, located in the basement of the Danna Student Center on the university's main campus.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for Loyola faculty and staff, and free for Loyola students. Tickets are available online, by calling 504-865-2074, or at the door 30 minutes prior to the performance. Free parking is available in the West Road Garage, accessible from St. Charles Avenue.
A native of Rome, Italy, Marcelli moved to the U.S. in 1989 to spend 12 years working in Los Angeles and New York before relocating to Berlin, Germany. He has performed on stages around the world, collaborating with an extensive roster of international musicians, including Wayne Shorter, David Liebman, Eddie Gomez, Markus Stockhausen, John Patitucci, Eberhard Weber and Arild Anderson, among many others.
Marcelli has released two highly acclaimed solo albums of original compositions for the legendary jazz label VERVE/PolyGram, and more than 190 of his compositions are featured on other CDs.
