If bigger really is better, then New Orleans arts lovers are in for a treat at Culture Collision 5 - the unique happy-hour that kicks off the 2013-14 cultural season. The largest CC celebration ever is slated for tonight, August 28, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Generations Hall, with a ticketed after-party featuring local, beloved funk/rock band Morning 40 Federation from 8 - 10 p.m.
The annual event brings together more than 60 of New Orleans' nonprofit visual and performing arts organizations for a one-night-only event designed to encourage participation in the New Orleans art scene. Attendees can scope out upcoming performances, take advantage of exclusive ticket promotions and meet like-minded arts lovers.
In celebration of five successful years, Culture Collision 5 boasts pop-up performances by select organizations, a huge free raffle and a free photo booth. Multiple cash bars and a variety of food vendors will also be on site. Members of the local media can set-up camp and report, tweet and interview representatives from participating organizations in the exclusive Media Center, also new this year.
When 8 p.m. rolls around and the main event closes, Morning 40 Federation takes to the stage in the Big Room to wow the audience with all their hits. Tickets to the after-party are $10 in advance online or $12 at the door.
Culture Collision parking is available for $10 in the Fulton Street Garage, and additional street parking is available.
