Producers Paul Blake and Sony/ATV Music Publishing have announced the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway hit Beautiful-The Carole King Musical, depicting the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter, will make its New Orleans debut at The Saenger Theatre from March 7-12, 2017. Presented by the New Orleans Theatre Association, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical is part of the East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans 2016 - 2017 season.

Tickets for Beautiful - The Carole King Musical start at $36.54 and will be available at the Saenger Theatre Box Office, 1111 Canal St., New Orleans, Louisiana 70112, BroadwayInNewOrleans.com, all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at (800) 982-2787. "Carole King might be a native New Yorker, but her story of struggle and triumph is as universal as they come - and her music is loved all over the world," producer Paul Blake said. "We know that audiences throughout the country will embrace this show just as Broadway and London audiences have."

With a book by Tony and Academy Award-nominee Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni and choreography by Josh Prince, Beautiful - The Carole King Musical features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil. The show opened on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (125 West 43 St.) in Jan. 2014, where it has since broken all box office records and recently became the highest grossing production in the theatre's history.

The original Broadway cast recording of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical (Ghostlight Records), won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and is available on CD, digitally and on vinyl. Beautiful - The Carole King Musical opened in London at the Aldwych Theatre in Feb. 2015 and launched its first national tour in Sept. 2015.

Long before she was Carole King, chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, a Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah. She fought her way into the record business as a teenager and, by the time she reached her twenties, had the husband of her dreams and a flourishing career writing hits for the biggest acts in rock 'n' roll. But it wasn't until her personal life began to crack that she finally managed to find her true voice. Beautiful - The Carole King Musical tells the inspiring true story of King's remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. Beautiful - The Carole King Musical features a stunning array of beloved songs, including "I Feel The Earth Move," "One Fine Day," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," "You've Got A Friend" and the title song.

The creative team of Beautiful - The Carole King Musical also includes Derek McLane (set design), Alejo Vietti (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Brian Ronan (sound design), Charles G. LaPointe (wig and hair design), Steve Sidwell (orchestrations and music arrangements), Jason Howland (music supervision) and John Miller (music coordination).

Originally built in 1927, the Saenger Theatre was designed to reflect a magnificent 15th century Italian courtyard and gardens, with a starlit evening sky ceiling, arched surroundings, statuary, columns and decorative moldings. In January 2012, the City of New Orleans, Canal Street Development Corporation (CSDC) and ACE Theatrical Group formed a public-private partnership to carry out a $52 million restoration project after the iconic theatre was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The Saenger Theatre reopened in the fall of 2013, authentically restored to the finest level of detail, with state-of-the-art technological improvements and updated first-class amenities. The theatre hosts a wide variety of performing arts attractions including live theater, comedy shows and musical acts. The Saenger Theatre is located at the corner of Canal and North Rampart streets in downtown New Orleans and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
