The Unexpected 3rd is a solo show written by and starring Kathryn Grody, directed by Timothy Near. Deep into what she calls her third and final act, Grody reflects on the experience of entering elderhood at 79—navigating a crumbling democracy, a changing world, and an ever-shrinking circle of friends and colleagues. With equal parts empowerment and bewilderment, she explores the parts of herself that have been waiting to bloom, offering a perspective on the impermanence of life that is both deeply funny and heartbreaking.
