Synopsis
Howell Middle School South Players are thrilled to present Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical on April 4 and 5, 2025. Nearly 70 talented cast members will bring the full Broadway version to life under the expert guidance of teacher directors Cindy Lutz, Steve Esche, and Mike Moorman, supported by a dedicated parent production team.
This Tony Award-winning musical, inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, celebrates childhood, imagination, and the power of standing up to injustice. With a book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, the show has captured audiences worldwide, winning 47 international awards and featuring unforgettable songs like "Naughty," "When I Grow Up," and "Revolting Children."
The principal cast features Julia Limongello (8th grade) as Matilda Wormwood, an intelligent and imaginative young girl. Avery Carson (8th grade) will portray the terrifying Miss Trunchbull, who believes that "All children are maggots," while Matilda's teacher, Gianna Randazzo (7th grade) brings warmth to the role of Miss Honey. Matilda's father played by Jameson Green (7th grade) and Matilda's mother played by Violet Harris (8th grade) are Matilda's neglectful parents - a father obsessed with money and a mother who values looks over books.
A group of talented children joins them in Matilda’s class: Joseph Serzan (7th grade) as Bruce, Samantha Delaney (6th grade) as Lavender, Callie Mamanna (7th grade) as Amanda Thripp, Tyler Rivera (8th grade) as Nigel, London Fernandez (6th grade) as Alice, Ryan Ventimiglia (7th grade) as Eric, Helena Pozo (7th grade) as Hortensia, Jaxon Sjonvall (6th grade) as Tommy, Tessa Rapcienski (7th grade) as Tessa, Eliana Nales-Santiago (7th grade) as Eliana, and Gabriella Palma (6th grade) as Gabby.
Additional featured roles include Andrew Hana (8th grade) as the Escapologist, Madison Angarano (8th grade) as the Acrobat, the lovely librarian Lia Cannon (7th grade) as Mrs. Phelps, and Matthew Ditre (7th grade) as Rudolpho, Mrs. Wormwood's dance partner.
An ensemble of over 40 performers will bring additional depth to the production, playing school kids, junior high students, nurses, dancers, Bulgarians, cooks, and judges. The show promises to be a high-energy spectacle that will delight both children and adults with its captivating storytelling and dynamic performances.
The Howell Middle School South Players invite family, friends, and the entire community to witness these young talents shine in this extraordinary musical that celebrates the power of imagination, courage, and standing up to injustice.
